Pakistani all-rounder Khushdil Shah is set to represent Rangpur Riders in the inaugural edition of the Global Super League 2024. The announcement was made by Rangpur’s team director, Shanian Taneem, during a press conference in Mirpur on Saturday.
Rangpur Riders, who had previously revealed a 14-member squad featuring nine Bangladeshi players and five overseas stars, have now strengthened their lineup further with the addition of Khushdil.
The left-handed batting powerhouse, known for his hard-hitting and crafty left-arm spin, was directly signed by the franchise before the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) draft.
Khushdil is no stranger to Bangladeshi cricket, having showcased his skills in two BPL seasons with Comilla Victorians. However, this marks his debut in Rangpur Riders’ colors. His presence is expected to enhance the team’s depth and balance, providing a lethal combination of middle-order firepower and economical spin bowling.
The Riders will be captained by Nurul Hasan Sohan, with significant contributions anticipated from players like Shak Mahedi and Mohammad Saifuddin.
A prolific performer in Pakistan’s domestic circuit, Khushdil has built a reputation as a dependable finisher in limited-overs cricket. He is known for his aggressive batting style, particularly his dominance against spinners, where he uses his powerful leg-side play and swift footwork to devastating effect.
With extensive experience in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Peshawar Zalmi and a promising international career, Khushdil’s inclusion is seen as a strategic boost for Rangpur Riders as they aim for a strong debut in the Global Super League.
