West Indies pace bowler Matthew Walter Forde has joined the Rangpur Riders for the upcoming 2024 ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL).
Matthew Forde’s skill as a disciplined medium-pacer has set him apart from early in his career, consistently providing control and key breakthroughs. Rising through the T20 ranks in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Lanka Premier League (LPL), he made his ODI and T20I debut for West Indies in December 2023 at just 21 years old.
Forde’s performances carried into the CPL with the St. Lucia Kings, where his economical bowling stood out, as well as his stint with Dambulla Aura in the LPL, maintaining an economy rate of only 5.55. His career quickly expanded into major T20 leagues, including the BPL, PSL, and a three-match ODI series in Australia in early 2024.
Now joining Rangpur Riders for the 2024 Global Super League, Forde’s experience across multiple leagues and international formats makes him a potential impact player. His proven ability to control runs and deliver wickets in key moments will be a valuable asset as the Riders compete for the GSL title.
Matthew Forde will add West Indies flair to the lineup, while experienced English players Wayne Madsen and Zak Chappell, along with USA’s Harmeet Singh, bring depth to the squad.
The Rangpur Riders have crafted a versatile squad that combines seasoned Bangladeshi players with key overseas talent. The team includes Bangladesh internationals such as Nurul Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Afif Hossain, and Mahedi Hasan, all known for their impact in T20 cricket.
