Bangladesh’s Afif Hossain, known for his dynamic all-round skills, is set to represent the Rangpur Riders in the upcoming Global Super League tournament.
The Riders, representing Bangladesh in the five-team GSL, included Afif among their nine domestic stars, anticipating that his game-changing capabilities will strengthen their bid for the championship.
As the team embarks on its journey, Afif expressed gratitude to Rangpur Riders for this opportunity, stating, “This is definitely a chance to shine. Rangpur Riders are providing us with such an opportunity, which doesn’t come often. I hope to perform well for the team.”
Afif sees the GSL as more than just a tournament; it’s a stepping stone for further international exposure. With Rangpur Riders scheduled to depart for Guyana on November 22, Afif shared his determination to focus solely on helping his team reach the final, stating that personal milestones will take a back seat to the goal of team success.

At just 22, Afif has already built an impressive resume. He made his T20I debut for Bangladesh in 2017, capturing attention in only his second match with a blistering 52 off 26 balls at No. 8, leading his team to a thrilling win over Zimbabwe.
In 2022, Afif delivered a historic performance in Chattogram, where he and Mehidy Hasan Miraz mounted an unbeaten 174-run partnership to rescue Bangladesh from 45 for 6 against Afghanistan, marking one of the highest partnerships for the seventh wicket or lower in ODI history.
Afif’s talent was evident early on; he made headlines at just 17 by becoming the youngest T20 debutant to claim a five-wicket haul, with figures of 5 for 21 that included the scalp of Chris Gayle.
