Director of Global Super League, Mr. Jamie Stewart has said that Guyana is hosting a historic international cricket event, uniting teams from multiple global leagues for the first time since the now-defunct Champions League T20.
Stewart further added that GSL T20 event is unique in multiple ways. It’s the first major standalone cricket tournament in South America, marking a milestone for the continent and providing a new platform for the sport’s growth in the region.
The event, titled the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, is expected to captivate over 100 million viewers globally, he added.
Stewart has also said that top teams from prominent leagues, Pakistan’s Super League (PSL) and Bangladesh’s Premier League (BPL) are set to compete, bringing in massive fan bases from countries with populations in the hundreds of millions.
According to Jamie Stewart;
“Global Super League is a rare opportunity for Guyana to present itself on a global stage and connect with a diverse, cricket-loving audience.
In a nation of only 800,000, hosting such a globally broadcasted event is unprecedented. It positions Guyana as a rising hub for international sports, a milestone for the country’s cultural and economic engagement with the world.
This first-of-its-kind event has significant implications, aiming to place Guyana firmly on the map in the international sporting community and promote cricket throughout South America.“
