Rangpur Riders Training Session for Global Super League 2024

The Rangpur Riders have started their training sessions in preparation for the Global Super League 2024, marking their entry into the global cricket arena. The team was seen in a stunning practice session jersey that has captured the attention of everyone on social media.

Led by assistant coach Mohammad Ashraful, the team is focusing on reaching the finals and has its eyes set on clinching the championship in this inaugural tournament.

The Riders announced a 13-player squad, including a mix of local talents and international players. With nine players from Bangladesh and four international picks, Ashraful emphasized that this tournament represents an invaluable platform for Bangladeshi players to shine on the international stage.

“This tournament is no small feat,” Ashraful remarked. “The Global Super League brings global exposure that’s rare for our players. This could be a breakthrough moment for many of them. Our immediate goal is to reach the finals, and with strong team and individual performances, I believe we can get there. Naturally, the dream is to win it all.”

The squad will be captained by Nurul Hasan Sohan, joined by key players like Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Soumya Sarkar, and Saif Hasan. The Riders have also added leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, batsman Afif Hossain, left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny, and pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi to create a versatile team.

Four overseas players add depth and experience: Caribbean all-rounder Matthew Ford, England’s Wayne Madsen, pacer Jack Chappell, and USA’s Harmeet Singh, a left-arm off-spinner.

Ashraful praised the Riders’ setup: “Rangpur is among the top teams in the BPL, and it’s an exciting atmosphere to be part of. We’ve scheduled three more days of training and a practice match before continuing preparations in the West Indies. It’s a fantastic environment for the players to thrive.”

The Global Super League 2024 is scheduled to take place from November 26 to December 6, featuring teams from five nations.

Competing teams include Guyana Amazon Warriors, Lahore Qalandars, Hampshire Hawks, and Victoria. Originally, Fortune Barishal was invited to represent Bangladesh but declined, allowing Rangpur Riders to step in.
